Install MetaMask Extension in Chrome Browser

This section describes the process of installing the MetaMask extension in the Chrome browser.

MetaMask is required for the Verifier, as well as any other platform user who wants to transfer the carbon credits from the platform to his/her non-custodial wallet.

MetaMask is an extension for accessing Ethereum enabled distributed applications, or "dApps" in your browser! The extension injects the Ethereum web3 API into every website's javascript context, so that dApps can read from the blockchain.

MetaMask also lets the user create and manage their own identities (via private keys, local client wallet and hardware wallets like Trezor™), so when a dApp wants to perform a transaction and write to the blockchain, the user gets a secure interface to review the transaction, before approving or rejecting it.

For installing the MetaMask extension in your Chrome browser follow the steps provided below.

• Step 1: Go to Chrome Web Store Extensions Section.

• Step 2: Search for MetaMask.

• Step 4: Click the Add to Chrome button.

• Step 5: Once installation is complete click on the Get Started button in the displayed page.

• Step 6: Follow the instructions provided by MetaMask to setup your accounts and configure MetaMask.

Make sure that the legitimate MetaMask is being installed, as hackers might try to make clones of it.
